Eugene Henri Cauchois was a 19th century French painter who was most known for his floral still lives done in layers of loose, impressionist strokes. This painting is a study of his Basket of Pansies and is part of my current studies with David Jansen.
The dark background contrasts well with the path of light flickering throughout the flowers. How fun it was to punch up the brightness where the sun was hitting a flower petal.
Painted in acrylic on 18" x 24" x 1.5" gallery wrap canvas. There is no need for a frame.
