Peder Mork Monsted was a leading Danish landscape painter of his time, known for his photo-realist style. He trained at the Copenhagen Academy from 1876-1879 and worked under the artists Peder Severin Kroyer and William Adolphe Bouguereau.
This is one of my favorite landscapes. The colors are stunning, as they are in Fall. The reflection of the trees in the water accentuates this. The sky is early evening, just when the sun begins to set and casts a coral-like glow on the clouds. Wouldn't you love to take a walk here, along the path, and enjoy all of this scenery? I enjoyed painting this tremendously as part of David Jansen's landscape class.
Painted with acrylic on 36 x 24 x 1.5 gallery wrapped canvas. No frame necessary.
