William Adolphe Bouguereau was a famous French painter, best known for his realist depictions of the human figure set within Neoclassical and rustic settings.

This large piece was painted in acrylic by creating the values with colored umbers first, then adding the local colors in multiple layers of thin glazes. Building the form in multiple transparent glazes has created the beautiful glow of this very special piece. A peaceful feeling settles in as you gaze at Mary holding her baby Jesus and a baby lamb.  At its size of 24" wide x 36" tall x 1.5" deep, this piece took several weeks to complete.  It is done on gallery wrap canvas, so no frame is necessary.  This work of art was a true labor of love.

This particular version of the original painting was designed by Mary Gibilisco.
